INGREDIENTS
250 g cabbage, finely cut
2 small onions, chopped finely
1/4 cup tuvar dal, cooked
3 tbsp tamarind pulp
1/4 tsp sugar
2 tbsp grated fresh coconut
5-6 dry red chilies
1 tbsp coriander seeds
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
4 peppercorns
2 tbsp oil
METHOD
Grind red chilies, coriander seeds, cumin seeds, peppercorns and coconut into a paste. 

Steam or cook the cabbage until soft. Heat oil in a pan and fry the onions until golden. Add cabbage and the ground paste and fry for a few minutes until fragrant. Mix the tamarind extract, salt, cooked dal and cook.
Serve with rice and dal.
