INGREDIENTS
6 apples peeled and sliced thinly
3/4 teacup brown sugar
1 tbsp salted butter melted
4-5 almonds cut into thin long pieces
3-4 laung
1/2 stick dalchini
1/4 tsp grated jaiphal
2 eggs whites
1/8 tsp salt
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 tbsp grated lemon rind
1/2 tsp vanilla essence
METHOD
Place thinly sliced apples in a bowl.

Combine the sugar,spices and melted butter in a small bowl.

Sprinkle sugar over the apples in the dish.Mix well.

Transfer to greased baking dish.Bake at 200C for 20 minutes or until apples are tender.

Remove from oven.Cool the pudding.Keep aside till serving time.

To prepare the meringue,beat egg whites with an electric egg beater until fluffy.

Add salt,essence and powdered sugar and beat more until stiff peaks form.

To get lemon rind,wash the lemons and grate them gently without grating the white pith beneath the peel.Fold the lemon rind into the beaten egg whites.

Spread meringue gently all over the apples.With a fork make small peaks in the meringue.

Sprinkle almonds.

Bake at 200C for 10 minutes or until golden brown.Serve warm.
